Artist Ben Swatez visited Free the Slaves frontline work in the village of Bahari, India. The community had recently come out of generational slavery. Ben brought art supplies and taught the villagers to paint.
Free the Slaves frontline partner MSEMVS works to identify villages where bonded labor is particularly intense. They provide transitional school with mid-day meals and vocational training for older children, and income generation training for the adults, as well as helping to nurture community vigilance committees, through which residents learn how to access their legal entitlements. This combination of interventions enables the whole community to dismantle generational slavery.
