This 4th of July, celebrate our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness—by remembering the 27 million people in the world who are still denied these basic freedoms.

If you’re like me, the 4th of July is a time to eat too much, maybe drink too much, and celebrate our freedom. But this Independence Day, you can turn your party into something extra meaningful: help end modern-day slavery by using your creativity. Here’s how:

  • Creatively write the word “FREE” in a photograph—spell it out for all to see! Share your photos on our Facebook event page. Whoever gets the most “likes” will win a Free the Slaves Freedom pack, which includes our famous “Slavery Sucks” t-shirts, groundbreaking books, stickers and other educational and inspirational swag!
  • Have your fellow party-goers donate to Free the Slaves through text-to-give: Text “FREEDOM” to 85944 to donate $10. Reply “yes” to confirm the text. Or, donate directly through the blog here.
  • Spread freedom! Jump onto our Facebook event page, RSVP to let us know you’re holding a freedom event, and tell us what city you’re in. We want to see how far we can spread the word that slavery can end—if we all play a part.

You can download the Free the Slaves’ one-pager to pass out at your party, share our educational videos from our YouTube page, or browse our website for information to share.

Remember, the FREEdom photos with the most Facebook “likes” will win the prize! We’ll declare the winner on Monday, July 11. So get cracking!

Can you help end the conditions that cause modern slavery?
